Meet Studio Z Pilates

With over 20 years of experience as an instructor, studio owner, Barbara Zaro, has a broad depth and breadth of advanced training. She has worked with a wide variety of clients from beginners to advanced practitioners. Barbara specializes in teaching clients who are recovering from injuries, surgeries, and cancer treatments. What all of her clients have in common is that they gain strength, flexibility, balance, and a sense of well being from consistent practice 2-3 times a week.
BACKGROUND
Barbara Zaro, has been practicing Pilates since 1997 and teaching Pilates and restorative movement for nearly two decades. She is comprehensively trained in the Pilates method and is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT). Prior to opening Studio Z she owned and operated a successful Pilates Studio in Davis, CA for 15 years.
Originally, Barbara came to Pilates because of a serious back injury. She found Pilates while recovering from back surgery . The surgery was successful, but left her in unrelenting chronic pain. Soon after starting Pilates she felt her pain start to ease. Eventually her strength, stamina and ease of movement were restored. The rehabilitative effects of Pilates inspired her to become a certified instructor.
Barbara is also a breast cancer thriver. She underwent multiple surgeries and used Pilates based exercises as a means of rehabilitating her body. Pilates helped her to regain her range of motion and addressed the postural deviations that developed as a result of the surgeries. She takes great joy in sharing her knowledge by teaching other cancer survivors how to thrive through movement.
